North Reading Student Awarded Adams Scholarship

The student is one of five from Massachusetts Virtual Academy to be awarded the scholarship.

NORTH READING, MA — A student of the Massachusetts Virtual Academy from North Reading has been named a recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.

Brenna Linnane of the Class of 2017 was one of five students awarded the merit-based scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students who score Advanced on one of the three state assessment tests, and proficient or higher on the remaining two and have a combined score on all three placing them in the top 25 percent in their school district, according to an announcement from the Massachusetts Virtual Academy.

“We are extremely proud of these students and what they have accomplished,” said Judith Houle, Interim Executive Director at the Massachusetts Virtual Academy at Greenfield in a statement . “They truly represent the potential for academic growth and excellence a virtual education can provide and we couldn’t be more pleased to have these five fine young people servings as ambassadors for our ongoing educational goals.”

The Massachusetts Virtual Academy at Greenfield is the state's first virtual K-12 public school. The scholarship provides an undergraduate tuition waiver for up to eight semesters at a Massachusetts state college or university.
