Have you been searching for a way to make a difference in your community? Are you a hands-on person who’s ready to pitch in wherever needed? Then Community Service Day is the place for you. On Saturday, May 7, from 10AM to 2PM at the First Congregational Church in Norwood, community service organizations from the Norwood Ecumenical Food Pantry to Abundant Table to the Neponset Valley Humane Society will be on hand to fill you in on how you can help them.

Dive into a hands-on project like building and finishing kitchen tables that New Life Refurnishing provides to families in need (www.newlifehr.org). Or put together emergency buckets for Church World Service (www.cwsglobal.org) to send to victims of natural disasters. Donate blood to the American Red Cross by booking your own time slot at www.redcrossblood.org/give/drive.

Let your kids burn off some energy in the bouncy house or treat them to a special children’s program at 11AM by Miss Elaine featuring songs, dance, stories, puppets and poems. They can pot their own seeds and herbs to grow at home.
For the grown-ups, we’ll have a huge bake sale, a yard sale of outdoor toys and equipment, and a classic rock concert at 1PM by Peter G Band & Co.
A lunch of beef burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers and salad will be served from 12 noon to 1:30PM.

The First Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) is an Open & Affirming congregation welcoming all located at the corner of Route 1A and Winter Street in Norwood. The regular Sunday morning worship service is at 10AM and is followed by a fellowship hour in Pingree Hall. Church school classes and nursery care are provided during the service.
