Norwood, MA

May 27, 2014

Spring weather brings people out of their cocoons and into the neighborhoods for family fun, and the crack of the bat is a welcome sound as little league teams take to the fields. Many kids and their families find a wholesome and healthy way to enjoy the outdoors at these games, and local organizations want to support their choices. Dedham Medical Urgent Care Center, affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, located on Route 1 in Norwood, is a proud Grand Slam Sponsor of Norwood Little League for the 2014 season.

“Supporting local community activities has always been part of our organization’s outreach effort and we believe in promoting an active life style,” says Roberta Zysman, CEO of Dedham Medical Associates (DMA). “Many of our patients and employees live here, educate their kids here, and care deeply about the neighborhoods. We want to be part of their lives.”

Another healthy trend is the popularity of farmers markets.  Buying locally grown food supports our regions’ agriculture, but also provides healthy food choices. Dedham Medical Associates participates in the Norwood Farmers Markets throughout the season on Tuesdays from June 17 through Oct 7.  We love to have families visit!

Also on the Dedham Medical Associates outreach agenda, and not to be missed, is Norwood Day on September 13th. This event brings together local entertainment, games, crafts, food, sidewalk sales, kiddie rides, and town department displays.  Thousands of people come to be part of this wonderful family tradition.

Dedham Medical Associates has been part of the community for more than 78 years, providing primary healthcare and more than 26 specialty services in two locations - Dedham and Norwood. In February of this year, the Urgent Care Center opened in the Norwood site, offering medical care for non-life-threatening illness or injury on a walk-in basis, and is open to the public.

“Most importantly, we support good health on a day-to-day basis, but we’re here when our neighbors become ill or need immediate care,” says Zysman.  “The Urgent Care Center is nearby, has less wait time and lower co-pay than an emergency room visit. And, when you come to our facility, you will be seen by a physician who specializes in emergency medicine. Our goal is to participate in our local community and do our part to be part of our neighbors’ better health.”
