Driver Admits to Damaging Headstones

He will be summonsed for leaving the scene of property damage.

NORWOOD, MA - Police have located a suspect in a case regarding two damaged headstones at Highland Cemetery.

Sometime Saturday night, a vehicle struck and damaged two headstones at Highland Cemetery, according to the Norwood Police Department.

"The driver should be more than aware that they struck an object. Debris left behind appears to be from a beige or gold colored automobile. The vehicle should have extensive front end damage," police wrote on Facebook.

During a patrol shift, an officer located a vehicle at a body shop that matched the description given. The vehicle had extensive front end damage and it was determined that the parts left at the scene and the car matched, police said.

Monday, the suspect came forward and admitted he hit the headstones. He will be summonsed for leaving the scene of property damage.

His name can't be released until he is arraigned, according to the Norwood Police Department.
