IAM Strong Foundation to host Third Annual 5K Run/Walk
5K Run/Walk in support of the IAM Strong Foundation, which seeks to shatter the stigma of mental health struggles in adolescents

The Third Annual IAM Strong Foundation 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, May 7th at 9 AM. The IAM Strong Foundation was created in January of 2015, and seeks to shatter the stigma surrounding adolescent mental health struggles.
The off road 5K will take place beginning at the Charles Flahive Field at Westwood High School. There will be a 1.5 mile route for those preferring a shorter option, as well as a children’s obstacle course designed by Kids in Sports. There will be a raffle, a silent auction, children’s activities, and a DJ. In addition, a special balloon release will take place, to show how mental health has affected the lives of friends and loved ones.
Last year’s 5K event drew over 800 participants and was a wonderful opportunity for Westwood and neighboring communities to come together in support of adolescent mental health. Moneys raised from the 5K will continue to fund the IAM Strong Foundation Grant Cycle, as well as specific program initiatives designed to shatter the stigma of mental health issues. Over the past two years, the IAM Strong Foundation has awarded grants to local and regional organizations totaling over $50,000, all of which have helped to open up the conversation about mental health struggles in adolescents.
The previous IAM Strong 5K events have been positive, community building events for all ages, and the IAM Strong Foundation is looking forward to hosting this year’s event.
Pre-Registration for the Third Annual 5K Run/Walk is ongoing. Please register by April 14th to be guaranteed a t shirt. Details about how to participate can be found at www.iamstrongfoundation.org.
