The first annual 5-Mile Run for a Vet was hosted at the Norwood High School on Sunday May 3, 2015. The race hosted in memory of Norwood native Doc Benson, attracted over 240 runners.
Also in attendance was many community goers holding up ‘thank you’ signs, balloons, and noise makers throughout the challenging concourse and at the finish line. A gentleman ran the entire 5-mile race holding up proudly the American Flag.
One of the main attractions was a dunk tank with a service member in uniform inside. Children of all ages and even some battle buddies took turns attempting to get the service member wet! In addition, there were bouncy houses, face painting and a Fun Run for the children cheering on the runners.
