Local Church Collects Backpacks to Support Women In Need

Norwood, MA- United Church of Norwood placed a sign on their front lawn requesting donations of used backpacks in need, and the community has delivered in a mighty way. Since posting the sign earlier in August, over 100 backpacks have been collected, plus additional items to support the Blessing Bags outreach. These “Blessing Bags” are filled with essential supplies such as toiletries, socks, hygiene products, snacks, notebooks, pens, and cards of encouragement for women in transitional living situations throughout south-eastern New England. “We’re extremely grateful and encouraged by the positive response of the community to participate in this effort with us,” shares Pastor Kevin Smith. There’s still time to drop off a gently used backpack by the church’s Nahatan St. entrance. Further inquiries about how to support this outreach can be brought to the church office 781-762-2589.
