Edward T. Saniuk, retired District Fire Chief for the City of Boston died at home on Sept. 8, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 87.
He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Eugenia “Genia” M. (Fidrocki) Saniuk, devoted Father of Edward S. Saniuk and his wife Michele of Plimpton, Rosemarie E. Murphy and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury, Christopher P. Saniuk and his wife Julianne of Kingston and Stephanie Saniuk of Middleboro. Brother of Theresa Klimowicz of Lynnfield and the late Thomas E. Saniuk, Vincent F. Saniuk and Carolyn Couzens. He was also the cherished grandfather of Christopher, James, Patrick, Eric, Cole and Edward.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was the son of the late William T. and Stephanie (Suslowicz) Saniuk. Edward was a member of the Dedham Retired Men's Club, former Member of the Pin's and Needles Bowling League, former member of the 55 club at Florian Hall in Boston and was a member of the Boston Fire Dept. from 1953-1991.
Edward was also a WWII US Navy Veteran serving on the Aircraft Carrier Tarawa.
Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Friday Sept. 13, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in St. John The Evangelist Church 841 Shore Rd. Pocasset, Ma. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 3-7 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Friday Sept. 13, 1:45 p.m. at the Mass. National Cemetery Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Boston Fireman's Relief Fund 115 Southampton St, Roxbury, MA 02118.
