Save the Date: IAM Strong Foundation Presents Olympian Allison Schmitt

Olympic swimmer Allison Schmitt to speak about depression and erasing the stigma of mental health struggles

The IAM Strong Foundation is proud to sponsor, with the support of The Norwood Theatre, “An Evening With Allison Schmitt” on Wednesday, October 18th. The program will take place at The Norwood Theatre at 109 Central Street, Norwood. The doors will open at 7:00 PM and the program begins at 7:30 PM.

Allison Schmitt is an eight-time Olympic medal swimmer and three-time Olympian, making her one of the most decorated swimmers in the history of the sport. A Canton, Michigan native and 11-time NCAA champion, Allison graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Psychology and minor in Child & Family Development. She is passionate about helping those who struggle with mental health issues and has been vocal about her personal experience with depression prompted by her cousin tragically taking her own life. Allison continues to spread the message of “it’s okay to not be okay” with the hope of changing stigmas associated with mental illness and helping as many people as she can.

The IAM Strong Foundation’s mission is to shatter the stigma of mental health struggles in adolescents, and we are thrilled to have Allison Schmitt share her inspirational message in our Fall program. The program is free and open to the public. New socks and underwear will be accepted for donation at the door, to benefit adults and teens receiving inpatient psychiatric care.
