SCS Honors Local Fire and Police to Commemorate 9/11

Local Heroes Receive big "Thank You" from SCS Students & Staff

Every year, to honor the heroism of Police and Firefighters during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, Saint Catherine of Siena School teachers and students reach out with gratitude to the men and women who currently serve as Police and Firefighters in Norwood and the surrounding communities. Their thanks takes the form of cards, letters, drawings, and posters made by the children in all classes in the school as well as baked good donated by their parents. The purpose of the project is to highlight the dedication and sacrifices our local emergency personnel demonstrate every day on their jobs. This year, over 150 food items came in and were hand-delivered by teachers and parents to over 20 police and fire stations from Norwood to Attleboro. It truly was a school-wide effort to say a well-deserved “Thank You” to these local heroes. Special thanks to Grade 2 Teacher Denise Matthews who organizes and coordinates this tribute each year.
