St Catherine School, Norwood - Boys' Soccer Team Wins 1st Game!

St. Catherine School Boys' Middle School Soccer Team Wins 5-2 over Rashi School in Dedham on Wednesday, September 14, 2016

DEDHAM – St. Catherine’s Boys’ Middle School Soccer notched a 5-2 win over the Rashi School in Dedham on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. The victory marked the first game in the program’s inaugural season. St. Catherine’s jumped to a 3-0 first half lead, powered by goals from Chris Nelson, Neo Getgano, and Matthew Iantosca.

Rashi closed the deficit to 3-2 thanks to several successful second half counter attacks. The SCS Hawks sealed the win with two goals from Shane Toomey late in the second half. The St. Catherine’s team consistently pressured the Rashi defense with strong attacking play from Michael Walsh, Neo Getgano, and Joshua Cueco. Defensively for the Hawks, Brandon and Daniel DaSilva and Axel Ekberg kept the Rashi front line at bay and goalkeeper Jack Curran made several brilliant saves for SCS.

The boys’ next game is against Dedham Country Day School at Ellis Field in Norwood according to Coach Tom Dolan of Norwood.

The St. Catherine’s Middle School Interscholastic Athletic Program features four new programs for the 2016-2017 school year – boys’ and girls’ soccer in the fall, and baseball and softball in the spring.
