Week after week, I contribute to this column about all of the amazing kids in Norwood. This week, I have decided to tell you about my own amazing Whiz Kids (clearly, I couldn't pick just one).

Whiz Kids’ Schools: Coakley Middle School & Oldham School
Whiz Kids’ Accomplishments: Casey Mac is a 13-year-old young lady heading into the eighth grade at Coakley Middle School. She has played many sports growing up, but has become passionate about just playing soccer. She plays midfield for both the Norwood Travel Program and the Scorpions Soccer Club, both at U14. She is also quite the student, receiving first or second honors for every report card to date in Middle School. Recently, she was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. She has a boatload of good friends, loves to read, and loves all animals. Her dream is to attend UNC for college.

Casey’s 8-year-old brother, Colin, is heading into third grade at the Oldham School. He plays many sports, but says soccer, floor hockey and baseball are his favorites. He loves the Red Sox and watches every game. His favorite player is Jason Varitek. Colin has a knack for story-telling and is a very engaging conversationalist. He is sensitive and loving. Colin’s best subject is math in school. He loves camping/hiking, telling and writing stories, swimming, his friends and all animals.
Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): Casey is a kind and empathetic soul. She always considers the feelings of others and treats her friends the way she would like to be treated. Although she is often complimented for her beauty and her stunning blue eyes, she’s truly even more beautiful on the inside.
Colin has a very silly side to his personality and a sense of humor that won’t quit. He is constantly cracking his friends and family up with jokes and funny stories. He said his best times are spent with his family and his best buddy, Jake. He loves to tell people about how he helped on the farm during his family vacation to Ireland. According to a family friend (from Ireland), Colin seemed as though he was born to live on a farm in Ireland. He enjoys gardening at home while he dreams about going back to Ireland for another visit.
