Welcome to Matty's Movies
Norwood may not have the cinema anymore, but we've got Matthew Kelley.

Ah, the movie theatre. It's one of my favorite places on earth to go to. It's a place to escape reality for a couple of hours. It's a place to enjoy the company of friends while watching a tear-jerker. It's a place where your mind can travel to the farthest reaches of the universe.... and beyond! It's also a place to hide out so your boss can't find you. And mostly, it's a place with great air conditioning on a 94 degree day.
I love the movies, always have. I remember being seven years old and standing in line with my brothers and sisters down at the Norwood movie theatre, waiting to see "Star Wars" (best movie ever). That line was so long. It went around the corner, past Sanco Toys and nearly down to the bowling alley! That may have been one of my favorite childhood days, because after seeing that epic film I was hooked on the movies.
I grew up seeing great flicks at that theatre: "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Teen Wolf" and one of my favorites, "Back to the Future" (saw that one, like, 15 times). But alas, that cinema ran its course and it was time to move on. I was bummed out, let me tell you. I said to myself "What to do, what to do?" So I grabbed myself a quaker (a quarter, to the normal man), I jumped on the T, took it straight to the Dedham Cinema and I've been hittin' the flix ever since.

Hello, my name is Matthew W. Kelley and I'm a movie-holic.
Let me review for you a movie I've recently seen... three times! It's a movie called TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON. It's a science-fiction film (sci-fi) about alien beings from the planet Cybertron who come to earth as refugees because a world civil war has basically destroyed their planet. There's good aliens (the autobots) and the bad aliens (the decepticons). The autobots, led by the mad dog Optimus Prime, protect our planet from Megatron, leader of the decepticons, and a real pain in the rump.

There is so much action in this film your head may explode - it's that insane! Renowned director Michael Bay, (known for his over the top action sequences) makes a killer movie in which autobots "transform" into cars and help the humans defeat the decepticons. I may not be getting my point across too well, but believe me it's really good! The acting in this film is fair to mostly sunny. No one's gonna win any Oscars here, but who cares as long as it keeps you entertained, right? It stars Shia Lebeauf (who holds his own), John Turturro (funny), John Malkovich (...interesting), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (drop-dead gorgeous) and Josh Duhamel (umm, also drop-dead gorgeous).
Let me tell you, for the first movie that I review for Norwood Patch, it couldn't get much better than this. I'm the "sci-fi guy" and this sci-fi film freakin' knocks it off the planet, baby!
Like I said in the beginning, I love the movies and I love reviewing them, but don't take my word, get out there and see them, 'cause they're awesome! And what the heck, let me know what you think of them. My number is 617-293-6558, I'll even go with you! Jingle me up.
