2 Kids Reported Operating Bobcats, Leaving Them Stuck in Mud

Police responded to a report of two children operating two Bobcats on Lantern Way. Police found the machines abandoned and stuck in the mud.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody police log from Wednesday to Thursday.

June 22

  • 1:29 p.m. A caller on Summit Street reported some stolen items. An officer said it was a civil matter.
  • 4:12 p.m. A Saugus man riding a motorcycle was transported to Salem Hospital with a knee injury, following a car accident at the corner of Walnut and Tracey streets.
  • 4:52 p.m. A caller reported a possible attempted burglary at her residence on Heath Road. An officer reported something was jammed into the door lock.
  • 5:17 p.m. A caller on Cedar Grove Avenue reported a car break-in. A radio was stolen.
  • 8:26 p.m. Three men were arrested on charges of larceny over $250 and trespassing, following a report of three people possibly stealing roofing materials. Police pulled over a white 1998 Chevrolet on Upton Street near All Star Towing and arrested Wilfred TG Lavalley, 34, of 27 Arch St., Haverhill, Wayne Scappace, 59, of 39 Taylor Ln., Fremont, N.H., and Eric M. Collette, 42, of 39 Taylor Ln., Fremont, N.H. Lavalley was also charged on a warrant.
  • 8:38 p.m. A 41-year-old Peabody woman was placed into protective custody, following a report of a possible intoxicated female in the road on Route 114 at Violet Road. The woman was also going to be charged with a warrant out of Lawrence District Court on multiple counts of larceny.
  • 8:56 p.m. Police responded to a report of a car into a pole at the corner of Lynnfield Street and Hathaway Avenue. Two cars were involved in the accident. A Beverly woman was transported to Salem Hospital with injuries.
  • 11:37 p.m. An employee at Workout World reported a car break-in in the parking lot. A window was smashed and a cell phone was stolen.

June 23

  • 7:58 a.m. A caller on Bresnahan Street reported a bottle of medication was taken from her residence.
  • 8:54 a.m. Police and fire reported a trash truck was on fire on Johnson Street near the . Peabody Fire doused the fire and a tow truck was called to the scene.
  • 9:47 a.m. A 34-year-old Chelsea man was issued a summons for larceny under $250 by false pretenses, following a shoplifting incident at .
  • 9:58 a.m. A caller on Lantern Way reported two children were operating two Bobcats parked across the street. An officer said there was no one on scene, but the Bobcats were taken from a nearby construction site and stuck in the mud. A person from arrived and tried to pull the machines out of the mud.
  • 12:31 p.m. A caller at the Pioneer House on Washington Street reported $50 was stolen from him.
  • 1:08 p.m. A caller on Dana Road said he was threatened by a telemarketer, claiming to be from Western Union. The man said he suspected  it was a scam.
  • 2:10 p.m. Christine A. DeGenova, 38, of 6 Dark Ln., Peabody, was arrested at for shoplifting.
  • 2:44 p.m. A caller on Crane Brook Way reported receiving threats from a male party possibly involving a weapon. The suspect was no longer on scene. An officer said he would attempt to contact the suspect.
