  3. Family game night at the library? You're invited to drop by the Children's Room at the Main Branch Tuesday night and play a game or two with family and make new friends from 6-7:30 p.m. You can bring your own favorite games too.
  4. Paint with the Impressionists: Have you ever wondered what techniques the Impressionists used to get those beautiful effects of light and color? Now's your chance to learn how and using acrylics. The Peabody Institute Library will be holding a four-part series of classes, starting this Friday at the Main Branch. Projects will include Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" with the intent of displaying students creations at the Peabody Institute Library Foundation’s Starry Starry Night fundraiser in the fall. Classes will be Aug. 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 10 a.m. You can sign up online at www.peabodylibrary.org.
  5. Sales Tax Holiday: Gov. Deval Patrick recently signed off on holding another Sales Tax Holiday in Massachusetts from Aug. 11-12. How are you planning on taking advantage of the tax free days? Bear in mind that restaurant meals, tobacco and single items that cost more than $2,500 will still be subject to sales tax.
