  1. Tanners in the playoffs: With baseball grounding out to Lynn English Sunday, the Tanners' postseason dreams now lie with girls' tennis. That first round Division I North match has been moved now to tomorrow still at Andover (3:30 p.m.). The All-State meet at Fitchburg State University for outdoor track has also been postponed due to the weather until Tuesday. The MIAA says the pole vault starts at 1:30 p.m. with all other field events beginning at 3 p.m. and running events at 3:30 p.m. "Weather forecasts for Tuesday are much better than Monday, and the safety of all athletes is our major concern. Special thanks to the administration at Fitchburg State for being able to adjust their schedule to accommodate us," says the MIAA. Online ticket purchases are still valid for the meet.
  2. Fenwick's postseason update: All that's left cross-town for the Crusaders in the playoffs is baseball. The girls' tennis team lost its opening postseason match to North Reading on Saturday, 3-2, and now the baseball club is still slated to face Watertown today (4 p.m.) in the Division III North quarterfinals. The location is still TBA. As for track, senior Faye Haley is slated to compete at All-States in the girls' javelin as the Crusaders' lone representative.
  3. Champions for life:  is hosting an all-day fundraiser tomorrow to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life on June 15 and 16 at . The pub will be open from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and 20 percent of sales, be they from lunch, dinner or snacks, will be donated to the Peabody chapter of the relay.
  4. Get rid of your hazardous waste June 9: The city will hold its annual Household Hazardous Waste Day on June 9 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. rain or shine at the . The event is an opportunity for Peady residents to dispose of just about any hazardous wastes and chemicals they may have lying around their homes in an environmentally responsible manner. There is a $20 fee per household. For more details, call the Peabody Health Department at 978-538-5926 or DPS at 978-536-0600.
  5. School budget public hearing: The Peabody School Committee is set to take its final vote on next year's school budget tomorrow night. A public hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.
