5 Things You Need to Know Today, May 21
Sports today, dine out for a new playground, art and fashion shows, summer rec and Memorial Day services coming up.

Today is Monday, May 21. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.
- Peabody High sports on tap: Softball hosts Lynn Classical, boys' tennis visits Beverly while girls' tennis hosts the Panthers and boy's lacrosse heads to Wayland (all games at 4 p.m.). Varsity baseball then heads to Lynn Classical under the lights at 7 p.m.
- Dine out at tonight for the Welch School Playground. A portion of the proceeds from sales between 5 and 8 p.m. will go toward the fund for a new playground. The committee heading up fundraising efforts for the project has been hosting a number of similar events in recent days -- you can find more information on Facebook and mark down May 24 for an all-day book fair at Barnes & Noble. If you shop at any time during the day and mention the Welch, proceeds go to the playground fund.
- For the love of art and fashion: The elementary students' art show at the is on display until Tuesday, which is also the same day the puts on its annual art and fashion show -- art at 6 p.m.; fashion at 7:15 p.m.
- The Peabody Recreation Department says that if you register by June 1, you can get a 10 percent discount on certain youth summer programs. Additionally, CIT applications for the Playground Program and Special Needs Playground are now available and due back by May 25. The Rec Department says there's a completely new format for the program this summer, along with a new name -- Outdoor Leadership Program -- and two four-week sessions now. - Memorial Day services: All veterans' graves at will be flagged on Friday at 9 a.m. Breakfast and coffee will then be provided at by Mayor Ted Bettencourt's office for all volunteers between 10:30 a.m. and noon. On Sunday, a Mass service will be held at at 8:30 a.m. On Monday, the annual parade steps off to at 9:15 a.m. (a memorial ceremony begins there at 9:30 a.m.) and then the rest of the parade route starts at 11 a.m. at the corner of Allen Lane and Washington Street. Concluding ceremonies will be held in front of from 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
