Arrest Made in Peabody Home Invasion Case
Two men allegedly entered a residence through an open window and assaulted a resident with a baseball bat.

A Salem man has been charged in connection to a home invasion in Peabody on Sunday.
Police arrested Manuel Pena, 22, 135 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, and charged him with armed assault to murder, home invasion and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Pena and another person allegedly entered a Paleologos Street home through an open bedroom window on Sunday. The men allegedly assaulted the resident, who is a 57-year-old man, with a baseball bat. Police said they do not believe the attack was random.

The men fled the home. Police searched for the suspects with help from a Salem K9, but were unable to locate them on Sunday.
The victim was taken to Salem Hospital with head injuries and was later released.

Police investigated the crime with the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Unit and Salem Police Department.
Police identified Pena as a suspect and received an arrest warrant on Tuesday. Police arrested him on Bridge Street in Salem at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Pena is also being charged on warrants “stemming from a 2010 incident involving violent charges,” according to Peabody Police.
Pena is expected to be arraigned in Peabody District Court on Wednesday.
