Get Into College Series presented at the South Branch of the Peabody Library

Take some of the stress out of applying to college with this series of programs at the South Branch of the Peabody Institute Library.

Just in time for fall college admissions prep, the South Branch of the Peabody Institute Library presents a “Get Into College” series. This series of programs covers the major parts of the college application process, including admissions, financial aid and essay writing. Upcoming college students and their families welcome to attend one, some or all of these informative seminars designed to make the intimidating college application process less stressful!

The programs in our “Get Into College” series are:

College Financial Aid Workshop – Tuesday, September 27th at 7PM:

Jim Femia, a Certified College Planning Specialist and member of the National Institute of Certified College Planners (NICCP) with Apella Academy will discuss financial aid solutions that will benefit both parents and students. Participants will receive help navigating the complex world of scholarships, loans and other means of college funding.

The Inside Scoop on College Admissions – Thursday October 6th at 7PM:

Kristen Bixby, founder of Comprehensive College Advising will help applicants and their families in this workshop by teaching them:

· What colleges really look for in applicants

· Hidden factors playing a role in college admissions

· Top 10 insider tips

· 20 colleges you may not know about... but should!

How to Write Great College Essays – Saturday, October 8th at 11AM:

Abby Van Gelden, College Counselor from CollegeWise will offer the best tips and suggestions to help students find their own stories. Many great kids write bad college essays, but better tales are out there for writing. This workshop will show you what admissions officers really look for in great college essays and how to find your best stories.

These sessions are all free and open to the public, and will take place at the South Branch of the Peabody Institute Library, located at 78 Lynn St. Space is limited and registration is required.
