Haunted Happenings Scares Up Good Times for Families This Weekend

Salem only gets busier this weekend as Halloween gets nearer.

The weekends are only going to get wilder and spookier as the crowds continue to converge onSalem for Haunted Happenings.

But, you will also be able to kick off the weekend in a healthy way, if you so choose, with the Witch City 5K beginning at the Salem Willows at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Saturday will also see plenty of activities for the whole family. First and foremost is the Family Fun Day at the Salem Common from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. sponsored by the Salem Common Neighborhood Association. The Haunted Happenings Children’s Parade and Party kicks off at the Common at noon.

For those looking to get in the fall spirit, there will be two sessions of the Salem Harvest Fest at the Knights of Columbus. The first runs from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the second from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There will also be several opportunities to spend an evening with the master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, at Wynott’s Wands.

As the sun goes down and the hauntings only get darker, be sure to check out The Dark of the Night at the Pioneer Village from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunday sees the Family Fun Day return to the Salem Common from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 27th Annual Halloween Witch Ride will also be roaring into town on Sunday.

And what better way to end the weekend than with a performance of The Rocky Horror Show at Salem Theatre from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
