Historical Society Journeys Back to 'Roaring 20s'

Historian Christopher Daley's lecture brings legendary era to life at Smith Barn.

The Peabody Historical Society welcomed historian Christopher Daley on Sunday afternoon for a whirlwind flashback into the roaring 20s. The Smith Barn Carriage Room was filled to capacity as Daley presented an entertaining slideshow lecture about the Jazz Age, including world events, politics, prohibition, organized crime as well as the style, fashion and trends.

Daley, a history teacher in the Silver Lake Regional School system in Kingston, received both his bachelors and masters degrees from Bridgewater State College. Daley explains on his Web site that he likes to dig deep into history and find pieces of history that are out of the ordinary. He believes those aspects of history make it more human and relevant.

Daley gives lectures and presentations to local schools, libraries and historical societies around New England. His lecture topics include: Sacco-Vanzetti, Lizzie Borden, the Wessagusset Incident, the Lincoln Assassination, and a haunted history of New England.
