Massachusetts High School Football Players of the Week

The best performances from Week 6 of the high school football season.

With one more week before the playoff pairings come out, here's a look at some of the top performers from Week 6.

Blake Hill, Milford — Why throw the ball when you have Hill running behind a line that's playing better each week? Hill ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-7 win over Sharon. In all, Milford ran for more than 300 yards in improving to 4-2. The win also sets up a huge game with Stoughton Friday. The teams are in a virtual tie in the Division 2 South power ratings.

Giovanni Fernandez and Shane Frommer, King Philip — Fernandez ran for 103 yards and a touchdown and Frommer ran for 102 yards and two scores as the undefeated Warriors clinched a share of the Hockomock Kelley-Rex title with a 36-13 win over Attleboro.

Mike Yarin, St. John's Prep — In one of the biggest upsets of the weekend, the Hawks handed BC High its first loss of the year, 35-17. The man-of-the-hour was Prep quarterback Mike Yarin. The UConn baseball commit ran for 75 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 173 yards and two more scores. With the win, Prep jumped into fourth place in the Division 1 North power ratings with a week to play.

John Grady, Newton North — The Tigers won their fourth straight to improve to 5-1 thanks in part to Grady, who threw for 210 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-21 win over Weymouth. Grady now has 9 TD passes on the year and Newton North is tied with Xaverian atop the Division 1 South power ratings.

Calvin Johnson, St. Mary's — In a 36-7 win over Cardinal Spellman, the Spartans senior with the superstar name had two touchdowns, including one on a 97-yard interception return. St. Mary's improved to 6-0, one of 17 undefeated teams in Eastern Massachusetts.

Liam Henning, Wayland — The Warriors took care of business with a 27-6 win over Boston Latin, setting up a winner-take-all DCL Small game against Bedford this week. Henning, their senior quarterback, led the way, throwing for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

Malik Williams and Tim Ramstrom, Natick — Down, 3-0, to Walpole at the half, The pair combined for three touchdowns as the RedHawks came back to win, 28-3. Ramstrom finished with two touchdowns while Williams ran for one along with 166 yards and made 10 tackles.

Ojany Belliard, Greater Lawrence — In a dominating 40-0 win over Mystic, Belliard ran for 310 yards and five touchdowns. He also added an interception on defense. Belliard was the second-leading scorer in Division 5 last fall.

Borghesani McGovern, Haverhill — They came to see Andover quarterback E.J. Perry but left talking about the Hillies star senior quarterback. McGovern was 11 for 13 passing for 192 yards and two touchdowns while also running for one score as Haverhill beat Andover, 56-34. When not doing it himself, McGovern handed off to J.C. Laguerre who ran for 200 yards and a touchdown.

Bobby Maimaron, Duxbury — To no one's surprise, the senior quarterback had a great night against struggling Quincy, throwing for 157 yards and five touchdowns. The five scoring passes gives him 102 for his career, the third quarterback in state history to throw 100 or more touchdown passes.

Jordan McAfee, Everett — The senior quarterback completed an impressive 17 of 21 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-14 win over Somerville. Everett can clinch the Greater Boston League title next week with a win.
