Peabody Cultural Council Seeks Funding Proposals
Proposals for community-oriented arts programs are due on October 15

The Peabody Cultural Council set October 15 as the postmark deadline for organizations, schools and
individuals to apply for grants that support arts related cultural activities in the community.
Cultural grants support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Peabody, including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops and lectures, according to According to Council spokesperson Lisa Green.
The Peabody Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and
towns in the Commonwealth. The Local Cultural Councils Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which thenallocates funds to each community.

This year, the Peabody Cultural Council will distribute about $13,310 in grants.
Previously funded projects include: Field trips to Symphony Hall in Boston and the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, non-profit workshops for both beginner and established artists, Peabody Summer Concert series on the Commons,
and an online magazine, the Marble Collection, that features the work of local teen authors and poets.
