Peabody Will Crack Down On School Zone Traffic Violations
The move is being applauded by parents, who say dropping their kids off at Higgins Middle School can be white-knuckle driving at its worst.

PEABODY, MA -- Peabody City Council approved changes to traffic laws that call for fines for drivers who violated posted safety limits in school zones at the Higgins Middle School. Peabody Police are expected to begin forcing the new rules, which have long been a bane for parents who have to drop off their kids in the crowded and often chaotic school zone.
"It is absolutely crazy at some schools parents park anywhere they want, they drop off and pick up their kids in areas that are restricted. Some just park in a busway and block buses and don’t care and won’t move. I am a bus driver and if they don’t move they are blocked," one woman posted in the Moving Peabody Forward group on Facebook. "You cannot put the kids in danger. I am personally glad the school department can now do something."
