State Wants To Make Route 114 In Peabody Safer
Peabody Police say they respond to about 15 accidents per month on the roadway.

PEABODY, MA -- The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is in the early design stages to improve a stretch of Route 114 in Peabody that it says is in the top 200 crash locations in the state. Construction on the $2.7 million project is expected to start in 2021 and could include measures from allowing U-turns at intersections where people routinely ignore the posted "No U-Turn" signs to rethinking the length of turning lanes.
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, there are about 15 crashes per month on the road as currently designed. "It’s the busiest one we have out of all the streets in terms of car accidents," peabody Police Chief Tom Griffin told the newspaper.
