Supervisors Didn't Report Abuse At Peabody Nursing Home

PEABODY, MA -- Supervisors at CareOne in Peabody told a nurse who reported suspected sexual abuse by a resident that "nothing happened," according to an investigation by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Despite repeated instances where the resident grabbed the genitals of other residents, pinned them up against a wall, rubbed his body against them and pulled them into bed, staff at CareOne did not investigate the allegations or report them to the state.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, there were at least nine incidents over a period of five weeks. The state had prevented the facility from taking new patients. That freeze was lifted Thursday when investigators ruled determined CareOne was in compliance with federal rules.
