Swing Orchestra Performs in Peabody on Sunday
The concert is part of the Summer Concert Series.

Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt Jr. and the City of Peabody are pleased to announce the sixth concert of the 22nd annual Summer Concert Series. This concert will be held at the Leather City Common located on Lowell Street on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.
This week we are pleased to feature The Beantown String Orchestra. The Beantown Swing Orchestra, founded in 2006, represents the future of big band swing music. This 18-piece band specializes in the performance of vintage swing era and Sinatra classics as well as popular and original songs custom arranged for big band. Its mission is to bring big band music back into the mainstream for future generations to enjoy.

Fronted by 2004 American Idol finalist John Stevens, the band consists of talented and energetic musicians primarily from Berklee and New England Conservatory and is often hired for classy weddings and galas where it is important to get all ages onto the dance floor. They also perform concerts and offer school assembly programs with the goal of entertaining and educating audiences with this historically significant and most sophisticated form of American music ever created.
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics and then sit down, relax and enjoy! In case of rain, the concert will be cancelled and rescheduled to a date to be announced. Aug. 24 Horizon and the Horns (WROR will be on scene from 4–6 p.m. with special activities for children)
These concerts will all be held on Sundays at the Leather City Common from 6 to 8 pm.
