Topsfield Fair Junior King & Queen; Frankie Avalon Wednesday

A Peabody 8-year-old boy and Essex 6-year-old girl were tabbed to represent the fair at events throughout the upcoming year.

TOPSFIELD, MA — A Peabody boy and Essex girl were picked to represent the Topsfield Fair at local parades and other events over the next year as the 2021 Junior King and Queen.

Quinn Psalidas, 6, of Essex and Ashton Tadiello, 8, of Peabody, were picked for the honor on Saturday as part of the annual pageant for those 5 through 8 years old. Children are interviewed and selected based on conduct and personality.

Wednesday night's headliner is Frankie Avalon, the 50s and 60s teen idol who placed 31 singles on the Billboard Top 100 chart, including the chart-toppers "Venus" and "Beauty School Drop Out" from the "Grease" soundtrack. He also appeared in the movie "Casino" in 1995 as a guest on Robert DeNiro's character Sam Rothstein's talk show "Aces High."

The Topsfield Fair is open through next Monday with altered hours for its 2021 return following a one-year hiatus because of the coronavirus health crisis.
