Athlete of the Week: Liam Cosgrove
Liam Cosgrove is Plymouth Patch's Athlete of the Week due to his leadership ability, work ethic, and community involvement.

Whether it is in the classroom, on the ice, or out in the “real world,” the ability to lead others is one of the most impressive qualities a young person can foster. However with leadership comes responsibility. A successful leader must possess the ability to choose goals and methods that influence his followers in a positive and beneficial manner-a skill rarely seen at the High School level.
According to Plymouth North varsity hockey coach John Greene, there is one senior captain who has leadership down pat. His name is Liam Cosgrove, and he has displayed impressive leadership skills through community service, by positively influencing his teammates both on and off the ice, and always giving 100 percent.
Liam is a three sport athlete and just finished up his last season on the ice for the Eagles. He potted 11 goals and 13 assists all while keeping his penalty minutes very low.

I became involved in hockey when I was five or six years old. My good friend played for a year and he told me it was fun, so I tried it out and never stopped playing.
2) What is your favorite moment in your sports career? Could you describe it for me?
My favorite moment in my hockey career was when I was a “mite C.” We were in the Santa Clause tournament and were playing in the championship. We went to overtime and I ended up scoring the game winning goal from the blue line.
3) What was the most challenging moment in your athletic career?
The most challenging moment in my athletic career would have to be when I broke my wrist playing hockey and had to play half the season in a cast.
4) What is your life like outside of athletics? What do you enjoy doing?
To be honest, my life is all about sports. I'm a three sport athlete so I don't have much down time between seasons. However, I do enjoy fishing and hanging out at my pool in the summer.
5) What motivates you?
The thing that motivates me the most is always trying to do better than I have the season before. I like making the crowd cheer and help the team win, whether it is scoring goals or making a big hit so the crowd goes wild.
6) What are your plans for after graduation? What are your career goals?
I plan on attending college and studying criminal justice. I don't know for sure where I am going, but I will be playing football. When I'm older I want to be a police officer.
7) What's on your ipod these days?
I listen to all sorts of music, but my favorites would have to be Blink 182, Breaking Benjamin, and Linkin Park.
8) Could you describe your community service projects for me? What motivates you to participate in community service?
Our hockey team has done many community service projects in the past. We have collected coats for the homeless, assembled care packages to send to the troops, and cleaned St. Peters church. I think I'm motivated to participate in community service because I love the feeling when its all done and over with of helping out the needy. Also knowing that the troops are going to love what I packed for them, and that it is going to bring some happiness to them, while they're digging for our country.
