Celebrating America’s Hometown

America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration gives our community an opportunity to remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving and I want to recognize and say thank you to Olly deMacedo.

I was thrilled to attend and speak at the Navy Band Sea Chanters memorial concert last Friday honoring those who have served, and are currently serving, in the United States Military. The concert is an important part of our America’s Home Thanksgiving Celebration and it was a pleasure to join the Plymouth community on such a special night.

America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration gives our community an opportunity to remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving and I want to recognize and say thank you to Olly deMacedo for helping us keep Plymouth’s unique history alive.

Olly has dedicated himself to the Thanksgiving celebration weekend for the past thirteen years and, before that, he supported the events as a committed volunteer. From coordinating the concert series to building the floats for the parade, Olly has thrown himself into this celebration from day one and I continue to be impressed by the hard work he puts into this event every year.

I also want to thank Olly for always recognizing the faithful service of our veterans and active-duty military members throughout the entire Thanksgiving celebration. It’s because of the bravery and dedication of these fine citizens that our families, and our communities, are safe.

We welcomed more than a quarter million people to Plymouth for this year’s events and I know that this milestone would not have been possible without Olly’s passion and hard work. I’m so proud to be part of a community that remembers and celebrates their history and I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.
