Fraxel Laser Technology In The Treatment of Skin Conditions

Fraxel Laser treatments can be used to treat a variety of cosmetic conditions including acne, scarring, age and brown spots, melasma (mask of pregnancy), pigmentation and fine wrinkles.

Fraxel Laser advanced technology may be used in the successful treatment of a number of skin conditions.

Fraxel Laser treatments use the technology of a fractionated laser beam to improve the skin’s appearance. It is designed to target aging and damaged skin, and does so by stimulating the body’s natural production of new collagen and skin cells. This particular laser treatment is potent, yet effective and safe. Fraxel Laser treatments have been approved by the FDA to treat a variety of cosmetic conditions including acne, scarring, age and brown spots, melasma (mask of pregnancy), pigmentation and fine wrinkles. Best of all, healing time is quick and the treatment is safe for all skin types.

How it works

Fraxel Laser breaks the laser beam into microbeams. Each microbeam is smaller than the size of a hair follicle.

The actual treatment feels like a prickling sensation on the skin. It’s not painful, just slightly uncomfortable. A topical anesthetic is applied and many patients have said they don’t feel anything at all.

After treatment, the skin feels and looks somewhat sunburned but this subsides within several days. Patients should moisturize their skin at least twice a day. Patients may also wear makeup to disguise the sunburn look if they desire it.

Treatment regimens vary according to the patient, but essentially, results can be obtained in three to five sessions. Sessions are typically spaced two to four weeks apart. Results are usually visible by the third month.

Sun exposure should be avoided during the process and during healing in the months following treatment sessions. We recommend that sunscreen be worn every day to block out UVA/UVB rays that damage the skin.

With Fraxel Laser, there is no downtime and healing is rapid after treatment. It is a safe, non-invasive treatment that improves texture, tone, scarring and pigmentation of the skin.
