Local Soccer Players Can Revved up with a Free New England Revolution Soccer Clinic

The experts at Spaulding Rehab and the New England Revolution Academy hosted a free soccer clinic at the JunglePlex Sports on June 5thth from 6-8 pm.

Warm winter temperatures have filled soccer players with anticipation of an early start to the soccer season.  When facing an extended season it is important that athletes know the signs of common sports injuries and understand the importance of proper stretching to avoid overtraining injuries. To get players ready, the experts at Spaulding Rehab and the New England Revolution Academy hosted a free soccer clinic at the JunglePlex Sports and Entertainment Complex June 5thth from 6-8 pm for all soccer players ages 7 to 14. Player, coaches, and parents learned proper stretching techniques, injury prevention and treatment.

Participants will be led by New England Revolution Academy coaches through various skills stations that challenged a players’ agility, ball control, shooting, and play-making decisions.  Therapists from Spaulding exposed players to the same drills and workouts used to prepare the New England Revolution for their season.  Players, coaches and parents learned about the latest on common sports injuries and how to recognize signs of an overuse injury.

“Spaulding and the Revolution Academy are proud to offer this clinic free to area youth soccer players. Our goal is to make sure local soccer players are properly training throughout the season to help avoid injuries,” said Tim Needham, Physical Therapist, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.  “We want parents and coaches to be aware of the symptoms of overuse injuries so their athletes understand the importance of recovery and how it can directly affect game performance.”
