Lockdown Drill at Plymouth South Tuesday

Plymouth Police conduct a lockdown drill at Plymouth South High Tuesday morning.

Plymouth South High went into lockdown Tuesday morning shortly before 9 a.m. Students followed emergency procedures and quickly went to "Safe Spots," which are areas of a classroom that have a pink sign saying "Safe Spot." The area is far away from the doors or a window. Very few classrooms have windows, so the building makes it easier unlike other schools throughout the district who have window's in every classroom.

The lockdown lasted for approximately 30 minutes while police officers used the scenario to train for a school emergency. A handful of police officers responded to the school without lights or sirens.

Students are not allowed to leave the classrooms during a lockdown until a school administrator and police officer unlock the classroom door.
