Plymouth Police Department: Student Police Academy 2011

The Student Police Academy ran through July of 2011 which is open to all high school students in town.

This past summer, the Plymouth Police Department conducted its fourth Student Police Academy. This program is open to all students in the Plymouth High Schools who are entering Grades 10, 11 and 12 the following school year. Student Police Academy is based upon the Citizens Police Academy's which run for Plymouth Residents over 18.

Students are taught the procedures of the Plymouth Police Department along with a tour of the police station, a visit with the Canine Unit, Mounted Unit and Detective Division. The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, Plymouth County Correctional Facility and the District Court House are field trips the program goes on. Students are rewarded with a three-hour ride along with a police officer. The Police Department has three officers assigned to the four secondary cchools. Officer Paul Caraher is assigned to PCIS and PSMS as well as the eight Elementary Schools in town and runs the Junior Student Police Academy for middle school students, which runs through January until March.
