What is Reiki

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

I was trained and certified as Usui Reiki; the continued training started by Mikao Usui and brought to the west in 1937 by Mrs. Hawayo Takata.

One day, Usui-Sensei climbed Mt. Kurama, where he began to do penance while fasting. Suddenly on the twenty first day from the start, he felt a great REIKI over his head, and at the same time as he was spiritually awakened he acquired the REIKI cure. It is my belief that Reiki is a life force energy that we all have within us, kind of like unconditional love energy. I also believe that it originated when Jesus came to us in human form and showed us how to perform healings. I am not much of a religious person and I do not believe every word written in the bible but I do believe the quote John 14:12 which states, “The truth is anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works because I am going to be with the Father.” I have faith that in this quote he is referring to his healing other and that in believing in Jesus and God we will be open to our life force energy. When I give a Reiki session I never do it alone, I am open to the life force and spiritually guided energy and I know that I am used as a conduit so that my spirit guides and assist me in giving the universal life force and unconditional love energy to my clients. Sometimes I can feel them with me, like Jesus said in his quote “I am going to be with my Father” So that he will be in spirit and able to assist us when we need him.

Although this is my belief, I still give credit to Usui for bringing it back to us and helping us connect to our inner powers.

In the course of my three level Reiki studies I acquired what we call Spirit Guides, in my guides I have Jesus, Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, Kuan Yin, Arch Angle Raphael, Paul the Venetian, Archangel Michael, and Zoar. All assist me in giving energy to my clients.
