Father Charged with Attempted Murder of 15-Year-Old Son

A father shot his 15-year-old son and then himself during a domestic dispute Tuesday on Jamie's Path.
Plymouth Police say that Richard Panepinto, 53, allegedly shot his son and then himself around 5:30 p.m.
Police responding to reports of gunfire found the boy, Shawn Penepinto, a freshman at Plymouth North High School, lying on a neighbor's front lawn with a single gunshot wound to the upper body. His father was found in the driveway of 24 Jamie's Path with a gunshot wound to the chest. It appears that Panepinto no longer lives at the address.

TheBostonChannel.com reports that Panepinto was waiting with a gun for his son to arrive. Police said Panepinto shot his 15-year-old son, Shawn, and then shot himself in their driveway. A neighbor carried the boy to safety.
"He had said, 'Am I going to die?' He said, 'Make sure you call my mom.' I said, 'No Shawn. Just relax.' He said, 'Call my mom. Tell her I love her,'" neighbor Mark Miller said.

Family members said Shawn was shot once in the abdomen.
It's been a torturous 24 hours for the boy's grandmother, who said his father was waiting in the driveway for him to come home Tuesday from basketball practice.
Court records show he was charged with assault with intent to murder after beating his wife with two bats in a bathroom.
The boy was taken to a Boston hospital and is listed in critical condition according to police. Panepinto was taken to South Shore Hospital where he underwent surgery. He was later taken to a Boston hospital and placed under a police guard. Panepinto is listed in critical condition.
Panepinto faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed assault with intent to murder, unlicensed possession of a firearm, and domestic assault and battery.
No arraignment has been scheduled due to Panepinto's injuries.
Plymouth and State Police are continuing the investigation.
