Make Valentine's Day a Weekend
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, there are many events all weekend for couples, and singles, to celebrate.
With events ranging from 17th century speed dating to professional makeovers, Plymouth businesses, museums and schools are hosting Valentineβs events that will appeal to couples, and singles, of all tastes.
Amongst the local venues offering Valentineβs Day specials is , which aims to show that love is truly timeless with events planned from Friday to Sunday.
Today, the Plantation will teach guests how to write a 17th-century love letter, complete with a quill and ink. The hands-on workshop runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and costs $15 per person or $25 per couple.

Saturday, the Plantation willΒ host a dinner and a movie. The evening will feature a candle-lit table for two, a four-course meal, a movie, chocolates, popcorn and a red rose. The event costs $90 per couple or $80 for museum members and Plimoth Cinema Club card holders. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m.
Valentineβs events at the Plantation will conclude Sunday with a speed dating session from 7 to 9 p.m. Guests will be entertained by a Colonial man and his wife who will discuss what 17th century βhasty courtingβ was like. Participants will receive their matches Valentineβs Day. The event is $30 per person, or $26 for museum members, and includes refreshments, sparkling cider and a cash bar.

For lovers of history, PCIS presents "Love Letters," Friday night. "Love Letters" tells the love story of John and Abigail Adams through their letters to each other.Β The play will be followed by a reception in the PCIS library. Tickets are $12 each or $20 per couple and are available in the PCIS main office or by calling 978-609-0055. The play begins at 7 p.m.
Β For those looking for a quiet getaway this Valentineβs Day, the at Plymouth Harbor is offering a Valentineβs Day Love Package. For $189, guests can choose one night from Friday to Monday to spend at the hotel. Couples will be welcomed with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries and will be provided dinner and breakfast. Reservations can be made by calling 508-747-4900.
Couples who want to enjoy a more formal night can attend the Plymouth Education Foundation Valentine Gala Saturday night at the Pinehills Golf Club. The 6 p.m. black tie-optional event will feature dinner, dancing and a live and silent auction to benefit the foundation. Tickets are $75 per person or $550 for an eight-person table. The artistic couples, the will hold a Coupleβs Night Out Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a reception with chocolate desserts, wine and coffee, followed by a romance-themed still life demonstration by artist Anne Heywood. Women looking to wash that man out of their hair, or a new look may find it at Saturday as the boutique hosts its second annual Valentine Makeover Party. Professional Makeup Artist Danielle Ross will use the Diego Dalla Plalma makeup collection during half-hour appointments. Each appointment costs $10 and can be made by calling 508-747-7546.
