Plymouth County Sobriety Checkpoint This Weekend
State Police said the sobriety checkpoint will be conducted somewhere in Plymouth County Friday night into early Saturday morning.
PLYMOUTH, MA — State Police announced that a "sobriety checkpoint" will be conducted in Plymouth County during the long holiday weekend. State Police said the checkpoint will be in place Friday night into early Saturday morning at an undisclosed location.
Funding for the sobriety checkpoint is provided through a grant from the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
State Police Colonel Christopher S. Mason said the purpose of a sobriety checkpoint is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and or drugs from state roadways.

State Police said the checkpoint will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.
