Plymouth South Sports Roundup: Hockey, Girls Basketball Clinch Playoff Bearths

Plymouth South's girls basketball team clinches tournament berth by winning four games in a row. Panther's hockey will play its final regular season game this week, preparing for the playoffs.

Plymouth South hockey's crushing 7-1 victory over Carver/Sacred Heart Saturday was the team's sixth win in its last eight games. The Panthers will finish the regular season Wednesday with a rematch against Carver/Sacred Heart. The 11-7-1 Plymouth South team has already clinched a berth in this year’s MIAA tournament.

The Panthers’ boys basketball squad lost 54-46 to cross-town rival Plymouth North Saturday. The team dropped its last four games and will end the season with a 6-15 overall record. 

The Plymouth South girls basketball team has  won four games in a row with a 67-53 win over Bridgewater-Raynham last Thursday, then dominated Plymouth North Saturday, winning 55-29 and improving its record to 9-7  Plymouth South has improved its overall record to 9-7.

The late season winning streak has clinched a 2011 playoff appearance for the lady Panthers.  Tournament pairings will be announced later this week.
