Tanning Salon Owner Who Ran Oxycodone Operation Caught in Plymouth: AG

Michael Fritz sold "thousands of dollars" worth of oxycodone before his arrest in Plymouth, according to Attorney General Maura Healey.

PLYMOUTH, MA — A Cape Cod tanning salon owner was recently arrested on charges he moonlighted as a oxycodone dealer, authorities said.

Michael Fritz, 26, of Sandwich, sold "thousands of dollars" worth of oxycodone all over the Cape, Attorney General Maura Healey said.

Fritz, who operates Sunsational Tanning in Sandwich, was arrested in Plymouth May 18 during a traffic stop.

"This defendant was illegally selling oxycodone and contributing to the prescription drug abuse epidemic that is ravaging communities on Cape Cod and across our state,” Healey said in a statement. “Our office is committed to working with our local, state and federal law partners to tackle the opioid crisis and hold accountable those who sell these addictive prescription drugs.”

Fritz pleaded not guilty to drug possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy. His bail was set at $7,500 bail pending an arraignment June 7 in Barnstable District Court.

Healey said police conducted a months-long investigation into Fritz's drug-dealing operation. When he was arrested, he had 100 pills worth about $4,000 in his possession, Healey said.

Authorities executed search warrants at Fritz's Sandwich home and his tanning business.
