CARVER, MA – A 23-year-old man is behind bars today facing multiple murder charges following a shooting at a local social club Sunday evening. The incident occurred during a child’s birthday party, leaving two men dead and two others wounded.
The Incident
Carver Police responded to the Saint John the Baptist Club at 53 Silva Street around 7:21 p.m. after receiving a wave of 911 calls reporting gunfire. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a chaotic scene with four gunshot victims.

The Victims
District Attorney Timothy Cruz and Police Chief Marc Duphily confirmed the identities of the deceased:

• Benjamin Cowart, 27: Pronounced dead at the scene.
• Jalen Pina, 20: Transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Two additional victims survived the shooting:
• A 28-year-old male remains at Tufts Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
• A 32-year-old male was treated at South Shore Hospital.
The Arrest and Charges
The suspect, Nicholas Meuse, 23, was located by Carver Police just a short distance from the club shortly after the shooting. He was arrested without further incident.
Authorities stated that all parties involved were known to each other, suggesting the attack was not random. Meuse is scheduled for arraignment in Wareham District Court on several felony counts, including:
• Two counts of Murder
• Two counts of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder
• Multiple firearms-related charges
Ongoing Investigation
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit and Carver Police continue to investigate the motive behind the violence. The club, which was hosting a celebration for a child at the time of the shooting, remains a primary focus of the processing teams.
