Whiz Kid of the Week: Laney Powers

Name:  Laney Powers

Age: 8 years old

School:  Cold Spring Elementary

Accomplishment:  A budding songwriter/singer, Laney recently recorded her first original song called, "Heez the 1 - 4 Me"  and is currently in the studio recording her second song, "The Bully Song."  Laney took interest in the anti-bullying cause after participating in a bully prevention program at and with her Brownie Girl Scout Troop.

Key to Awesomeness:  Laney is very creative and spends a lot of
time in her room writing original stories and lyrics in her journals. She is inspired by her Dad, Steve Powers of "Sparkola" and local cover band "The Smoking Jackets." Laney’s other interests include art, clothing design and hula hooping. She is a big music fan and counts Jackson 5, Earth Wind and Fire and The Ting Tings among her favorite artists.
