Over 30 Displaced After Buildings Collapse In 5-Alarm Quincy Fire
Two of the four buildings have collapsed, and at least three of the buildings are a total loss.

QUINCY, MA — A 5-alarm fire that raced through several buildings at Newport Avenue forced evacuations, led to the collapse of two buildings, and displaced over 30 people.
Fire officials evacuated at least 30 people from four burning buildings across from the Wollaston MBTA station. Police said three of the buildings were a total loss. The building where the fire first started, 299-305 Newport Avenue, collapsed within 10 minutes, fire officials told the Patriot Ledger. Much of 317-321 Newport Avenue also collapsed.
Fire officials told Boston 25 News buildings were under construction, which made extinguishing the flames a challenge. Two firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Police had closed Beale Street from Wollaston Center to Harvard Street. Newport Avenue from Furnace Brook northbound was also closed into the afternoon.
"We anticipate this area to remain closed throughout the evening commute," Quincy police said on Twitter. "Please make plans to alter your route."
