Effort to Get Lead Out of Quincy School Water to Take Months
The price of the removal could hit the $200,000 mark.

QUINCY, MA — It could be months until the city is able to fully remove lead discover in water at the Quincy Public Schools.
Paul Hines, Quincy’s commissioner of public buildings, told the Patriot Ledger that the work could cost between $150,000-$200,000. The work is on the heels of test that show that 26 water fountains and 100 sinks had elevated levels of lead.
The plan includes replacing sinks and water fountains in the elementary and middle schools. The estimated cost is $400 to replace a sink, and $600 per new fountain.
