QUINCY, MA — A Boston man suspected of committing up to 15 armed robberies of Greater Boston convenience stores has been charged in connection with a robbery in Quincy. Tykei Hallman — whom the U.S. District Attorney's Office had dubbed the "Inconvenient Crook" — is thought to be the same man who brandished a black and silver semi-automatic weapon and demanded cash during other robberies over the last seven months.

Hallman, 25, of Hyde Park, was arrested in Fitchburg and scheduled to appear Friday afternoon in federal court in Boston. Police from Boston, Dedham, Fitchburg, Milton, Quincy and Woburn took part in the investigation.

The DA's Office said about 15 convenience stores were robbed from May to December by a man dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt, gloves and a mask. Based on the similarity of the crimes, along with witness statements and video surveillance tapes, police determined the same person was committing the robberies.

United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Office made the announcement Friday. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
