Quincy-Area Community Health Center Awarded $10,000

As a part of its 20th anniversary celebration, PowerOptions announced the recipients of its first-ever '20 for 20' donation initiative.

From PowerOptions: Manet Community Health Center of North Quincy today was awarded $10,000 to support its programs as part of a statewide campaign of 20 similar donations supporting mission-driven nonprofits and government entities by PowerOptions, New England’s leading nonprofit energy buying consortium.

As a part of its 20th anniversary celebration, PowerOptions announced the recipients of its first-ever member donation initiative, “20 for 20.”

PowerOptions is investing nearly $400,000 directly in the missions and energy futures of its non-profit and government members– giving 20 cash gifts of $10,000 each and 20 electric vehicle charging stations to its members.

“As a nonprofit ourselves, PowerOptions has always invested in our programs and services for members,” explains PowerOptions CEO Cynthia Arcate. “This is another way of investing directly into our members’ missions and energy futures.”

The health center is a non-profit health and social services provider serving Quincy, Hull and Taunton with a mission to provide accessible, affordable, quality health care for all, without regard to health insurance status or ability to pay.

This past winter season was particularly challenging for Manet as it lost power for multiple days during the blizzards and storms. Because Manet does not have generators the health center was in danger of losing refrigerated vaccines and other medicinal products. The PowerOptions 20 for 20 gift will be used to help pay for five new generators at its sites.

“Manet is part of the critical health care infrastructure in the City of Quincy and the surrounding region,” said Manet Chief Executive Officer Cynthia Sierra. “Having new, reliable generators will help us ensure continuity of operation during power outages and emergency situations, such as the devastating March nor’easters.

“On behalf of the nearly 17,000 patients under our care, we thank PowerOptions for their support and assistance in helping us obtain this essential equipment.”

Since 1998, PowerOptions has delivered more than $2 billion in energy while pursuing its mission of saving nonprofits and public entities time and money on energy, so those institutions can direct more resources toward their own important missions.

As part of its 20th anniversary, PowerOptions decided to push the boundaries of that mission and give back to members with two exciting donation programs that put funds directly into members’ organizations and help them keep pace with technology advancements and better prepare for their energy futures.

The other PowerOptions gifts will go toward enhancing services, expanding reach and repairing facilities for nonprofits and public entities across Massachusetts.

“Our members range from the smallest to the largest nonprofits, and our gifts are meant to help supplement our members’ missions,” added Arcate. “The 20 for 20 gifts will go to members where we can make the biggest impact.”

PowerOptions will also be gifting 20 electric vehicle charging stations to members in the coming weeks.
