Quincy Man Among 3 Charged With Trafficking Heroin In Hull
Police said they seized over 40 grams of heroin laced with fentanyl, as well as more than 270 grams of marijuana.
QUINCY, MA — A Quincy man was among three arrested Sunday after police seized over 40 grams of heroin laced with fentanyl and over 270 grams of marijuana at a traffic stop in Hull, police said. Raphy Veras, 19, of Quincy, along with Giovanni Cruz, 19, of Belmont, and Tomas Martinez, 24, of Dorchester, were charged with trafficking heroin over 36 grams, possession of heroin and marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of burglarious tools. Cruz was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, marked lane violations and malicious destruction of property over $1,200.
Around 10:45 p.m., Hull police received reports of an erratic driver near George Washington Boulevard in Hull. Police said they pulled over Cruz and his passengers, Veras and Martinez on Hull Shore Drive after seeing the car drift between lanes and almost swerve into oncoming traffic twice.
Police said they smelled marijuana and discovered Cruz was driving with a suspended license, so the car needed to be towed. While performing a routine inventory before the tow, police said they seized 41.8 grams of heroin laced with fentanyl, 224 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and a "slim jim," a tool used to open locked cars. Police said they also fund 47.8 grams of marijuana in Cruz's pockets.

The three men were arrested and booked at the Hull Police Station. While in holding, police said Cruz was charged with malicious destruction of property after he purposefully clogged the toilet with a roll of toilet paper, causing the cell to flood with water.
The three men are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Hingham District Court.
