Quincy Man Charged With Trying To Stab MBTA Bus Driver

Dennison Drew, 25​, was arrested and faces a charge of assault by means of a dangerous weapon​, according to MBTA Transit Police.

BOSTON, MA — A Quincy man attempted to stab a MBTA bus driver late Tuesday night, Transit Police said.

Dennison Drew, 25, was arrested and faces a charge of assault by means of a dangerous weapon, according to MBTA Transit Police.

At about 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a male armed with a knife who was threatening a bus operator at the Dudley MBTA Station. Upon arrival, officers located a bus with its emergency green lights activated at Dudley and Warren streets. The bus operator told police that man, identified as Drew, attempted to board his out of service bus just outside of Dudley Station. When the operator signaled to Drew that he could board the bus, Drew allegedly walked around to the driver's side and attempted to stab the operator through the window.

The operator held the window shut as Drew continued stabbing his knife against the window. The operator pulled away and Drew held onto the side as the bus for a distance before letting go.

Drew was located walking towards Malcolm X Boulevard. Upon noticing the officers, Drew attempted to flee in the opposite direction but was eventually apprehended by police.

When he was taken into custody, Drew was allegedly found with a knife with the blade extended.
