Quincy Man Sentenced On Child Trafficking Charge
Prosecutors said the man used email to try arranging sex with a 16-year-old girl, but on the other end was an undercover officer.

PLYMOUTH, MA — A Quincy man was sentenced to to five years in state prison after prosecutors said he made plans over email to pay a 16-year-old girl for sex. Anthony McCaffrey, 59, was convicted in Plymouth Superior Court of human trafficking of a child under 18 and engaging in sexual conduct for a fee with a minor.
In December 2017, Lakeville police arrested McCaffrey in the commuter rail parking lot. Prosecutors told the Patriot Ledger McCaffrey used email to try to arrange having sex with who he thought was a teenage girl for $50, but there was no 16-year-old girl. On the other end of the email was an undercover police officer.
District Attorney Timothy Cruz told the Patriot Ledger that this was the first case in Plymouth County prosecuted under the state's 2011 human trafficking law. Gov. Deval Patrick signed the law which increased penalties for people convicted of buying sex, while treating the people who sell it more as victims manipulated or forced into prostitution.
