Quincy Police Rescue Baby Opossum

Officer Tim Kaes named the baby opossum "Stone Cold Steve Opossum" after rescuing the little critter and taking it in for the night.

QUINCY, MA — This baby opossum was lonely and scared after its siblings had died, but thanks to one Quincy police officer taking it into his home, it's expected to be okay. On Tuesday evening, a Willard Street resident called dispatch wondering what to do with the little critter. Animal control was not available, but luckily, Officer Tim Kaes was working.

According to police, none of the local wildlife centers were able to take the young marsupial in for the evening. Fearing it would die on its own, Kaes took the baby opossum into his own home for the night. Kaes and his family took kindly to the opossum and named him "Stone Cold Steve Opossum."

"With a little TLC (tender, love, and care) from Tim, his wife, and children, Stone Cold Steve Oppossum appears to be on the mend," Quincy police said on Facebook.
